Absorbing Wellspring Energy

A Wellspring's total energy pool depletes over time regardless of whether or not a Hunter is currently draining it as it slowly leaks into the world through the Rifts. The mission timer displays the rate at which it is depleting.

When the counter runs out, the connection between world and Wellspring is severed abruptly. This causes a cataclysmic event which kills the remaining damned Hunters in a fiery blaze saving only the Hunter who was the last to absorb its energy. Wellspring energy absorbed is counted in the same way as Bounty when it comes time to reap your reward, and is paid out in a combination of XP and Hunt Dollars. However, dead or alive, anyone who has absorbed Wellspring energy will reap its reward not just the winner.
